5 Questions Everyone Asks Before Buying a Website and Here We Answer

You’re reading this, that might be because you need a website, but you’ve got some big questions before you hire someone. We get it and we’re here to help!

We all know that a website today is essential to any business. However, the number of decisions you need to make before purchasing a website can leave you feeling overwhelmed. That’s where we come in!

There are many things to consider before you buy a website. You might not know where to start, so we have compiled a list of 5 questions that more than 90% of people ask before deciding on hiring a web developer, so you don’t have to worry about figuring it out yourself.

1) How much does a website cost?

The cost of a website is one of the most important factors business owners consider when choosing a web developer.

Like buying a house or a car, there are no set prices for websites.  This is because every project is different. Depending upon the project scope, some projects will take longer than others, and this might make the prices different too.

However, here at Cynesoft, we try to simplify this process as much as possible and provide ranges for different types of websites:

Simple Brochure-Style Websites

The simple brochure style website that many businesses start with typically starts at the range of $2,500-$5,000 and may go up depending on needs such as specific functionalities like CRM, lead generation system or any marketing services needed.

E-commerce or Large Corporate Websites

E-commerce or large corporation websites are more complex than other types of sites, and they can have a greater number of moving parts. These projects typically cost $5,000-$10,000 and may cost more depending on complexity and features involved.

One-page Websites

I understand that there are some small businesses who are just starting out, and don’t have a lot of money to invest in a website at the beginning. So for them, I offer one-page websites for $900 to help them hit the ground running. You can buy more pages as your business grows.

A Website is not “Set and Forget” Thing

Keep in mind that there are some ongoing costs like the domain, hosting, and the software your website runs on. You also need to commit some time once a week to keep your website up to date, secured, backed up, and online 24×7.

If you are getting quotes from multiple agencies, you will find that prices can be different. Some agencies may have higher prices than others.

Large agencies with a big team to pay, will charge you more, while small agencies (like Cynesoft) that have less overhead costs are typically less expensive.

2) How long does it take to complete a website project?

On average, the typical website project takes about 5 to 8 weeks from start to finish, however that timeline can vary.

It all depends on what features are required in the website and how seamlessly you are collaborating with us on the requests and feedbacks during the development.

3) What is your process like?

We follow an 8-step process to break your project into smaller chunks, that helps us take your project from idea to completion.

4) Who will prepare the content and images for my website?

When it comes to writing content for your website, we believe that no one knows your business like you. And because of this fact, I believe it’s crucial that you are involved in the process of writing content.

We all know that most business owners are not born professional copywriters nor do they have a deeper understanding of how to write content specially for websites.

And that’s where our process comes in. We bring together the best of both worlds – your business expertise and my experience in editing and optimising content for websites.

First we’ll create a content plan for your website (which might include content from an existing website or other marketing materials) and we will provide you with content templates for pages you can fill in with “rough draft” copy. Later on, we together optimise the copy to make it more appealing to your target audience.

5) Will I be able to manage or update the website myself when it’s finished?

Yes absolutely!

We build websites in WordPress which is the most popular website building tool on the Internet. Once your website is completed and live, we make it very easy for you to make ongoing updates (like posting new blogs, changing text, images etc).

After launch, we will conduct a 30 minute training session where we walk you through your website backend and show you how you can make the small edits by yourself.
